About us · Founder and lead psychologist
Adhila P, Consultant Psychologist and founder of Ila Mind Care
Adhila started Ila Mind Care so that families in Kerala, and Malayalis living far from home, could find warm, skilled support without travelling or waiting. She works with children, teenagers, parents, couples and adults.
Ila (ഇല) means leaf in Malayalam. A new leaf is a small, quiet sign that something is growing, and that is what Adhila hopes every family feels after time with her: not that everything is fixed, but that something has started to change.
Her approach
How Adhila works
Adhila believes mental health care should be empathetic, evidence-informed, individual and easy to reach. She begins by understanding the whole picture: the person, their family, and the pressures around them. Then she builds a plan that fits that person, rather than fitting them into a plan.
“Most people wait too long because they think their problem isn't big enough. I want Ila to be the place you can come early, feel properly heard, and leave with something that helps at home that same week.”
Why Ila
Why Adhila started Ila
Many families in Kerala, and Malayali families living abroad, carry worries for months before they ask for help. Sometimes it's not knowing where to go. Sometimes it's the fear of what people will say. Sometimes it's simply that the nearest psychologist is two hours away.
Ila exists to make that first step easier: a private conversation, in your own language, with someone qualified to help, from your own home.
What guides her work
- Listen first. Before advice, before plans, you are heard and understood.
- Keep it private. Your trust is the foundation of everything she does.
- Be honest and clear. About fees, about what counselling can and can't do, and about when someone needs a different kind of help.
- Think family. A child's worry, a couple's argument and a parent's stress are often connected, so she looks at the whole picture.
- Use what works. Her approach is evidence-informed and shaped to each person.

Working with Adhila
Adhila sees children, teenagers, parents, couples and adults online, in Malayalam or English. Children and teenagers are seen with a parent or guardian's consent. If someone needs medication or urgent care, she says so and helps them find it.
